Developed by Pipeworks Software between 2002 and 2003 (with numerous publishers), "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee" is a fairly simple, cheesy and fun slugfest that was also released for Xbox and Game Boy Advance (with the GBA version under the name, "Godzilla: Domination!"). A PS2 version of the game was planned, but was eventually cancelled. While the general consensus is that the GameCube version is the superior version (due to a higher framerate), the Xbox version includes additional content (extra characters and stages through the Xbox Live download service), sharper visuals, can be played on Xbox 360 and is the harder version to track down.

The plot involves an alien race known as the "Vortaak" invading the Earth and gaining control of the planet's giant monsters, sending them to attack cities across the globe. However, one monster (such as Godzilla, duh) is too powerful to be controlled and must go around fighting the others, stopping their rampage and returning them to normal. The game only starts with a few playable monsters, but you can unlock more as you play the game as well as new modes and stages. If you're impatient though, you can utilize a large variety of awesome cheat codes to spice up the gameplay experience.

G:DAMM's basic gameplay is to run around and punch, kick, smash, slam, blast, stomp, slap, nuke and otherwise pulverize your opponent with nearly anything at your disposal including objects, militia, and Mothra. A fair deal of the gang is here with different specialties and weaknesses and each monster has different energy-consuming abilities and "Rage" super attacks. While the gameplay is a little clunky, it works and the best part is probably the hectic multiplayer matches. The music is suitable for this game, but the graphics are quite rough... the level of detail on the monsters is pretty good, but some of the objects and textures are quite blurry and barely more detailed than what you'd find on the N64... BUT, since they are generally lost amongst the action and particle effects, all is forgiven. Ironically, this is, to this day, still one of the best Godzilla games, beating out "Godzilla: Save the Earth" and "Godzilla: Unleashed" ratings-wise.

This is a video of the game in action. Enjoy.
