2If you're planning on picking this game up for yourself, there are some things you should probably keep in mind. Firstly, the physics are a little wonky; you're going to get caught on fences, bushes, and the edge of the sidewalk. Secondly, once you've finished buying and setting up your equipment (which might be my favorite part of the game), you're going to spend a lot of time digging in the dirt. Finding something else to occupy your mind is definitely a key part of most simulator games.

Based on the Discovery Channel show of the same name, Gold Rush: The Game does what it can to simulate the life of a prospector in Alaska. This includes not only handling the finances of the company, but also running and maintaining the various equipment involved in collecting gold. Developed by Code Horizon and published with the help of PlayWay S.A., it is currently available on PC with plans for release on PlayStation 4 and X-Box One in the future.
The life of a prospector ain't what it used to be. Sure, you can still pan for gold like they did back in the mid-1800's, but now you have better options: diesel water pumps, magnetite separators, conveyor belts, dump trucks, front loaders.. assuming you have the cash to cover the expenses, of course. Until then you're just another greenhorn with dreams of striking it rich, a shovel, and the natural beauty of small town Alaskan wilderness.
