♫GRABBAG (Duke Nukem 3D) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is my arrangement of Grabbag, the main theme of 3D Realms' 1996 PC game Duke Nukem 3D, for native SNES playback.
I remember being excited starting this up for the first time. My dad took me up to the high road shops to snag a copy the weekend it was released, and I remember not being able to get home fast enough to start it up. And oh man. Between the explosion, the mutilated alien picture, and the wailing guitars, I was completely enthralled and hadn't even hit a button yet. Lee Jackson's title theme was appropriately loud, brash, and brimming with testosterone, and so it should be. What else would you want for a game that allowed you to wave money at strippers and shoot alien pigs sitting on the toilet? (And sorry about getting the name wrong in the video! It should say Jackson, not Johnson.)
It's one of my favorite FPS games ever, so I figured why not? This was a lot of fun to create. And if you want to know where I got the instruments from, the guitars and horns were pulled from Lethal Enforcers and Turtles in Time, and the drums were sampled from Crime Fighters.
The audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES deck.
The video was recorded from the original 1996 Dos version of the game.
