Grand Finale: Stop Zinyak Once and For All! | "Punch the Shark" - Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
This is it, the final showdown against Zinyak to end this for good. Everything has been leading up to this moment, and as the last mission in the game, damn does it not disappoint!
For one thing, it's a LONG af mission. Actually 3 missions in one. Because of that, this final video in the story is poetically about as long as my first video for this whole story. It started off an hour and 11 minutes long, and ended an hour and 13. This final mission is the epitome of everything that's been done up until. It's as if it's every single mission combined into one, taking elements from every single one and having me utilize every skill that I've learned until now.
Constantly on the move. Constantly fighting threats from every side. Just one constant adrenaline rush. I have to break it down in parts.
The first part was probably the most tame, but still, getting to blow shit up out the back of a moving truck was a pretty good opening. As much as I wanted to stay and kill everything around me, I knew I had to keep that key moving. Wasn't expecting the portion in cyber space, but getting to jump all over the place and snipe/blast enemies on each platform was fun af. I especially wasn't expecting two fucking Wardens to appear as normal enemies! Even managed to kill one.
The second part was definitely my favorite. Just getting to run through Steelport with super powers in broad daylight was enough for me, but also having shit just going crazy all over and having that kick-ass music playing to fit the situation was just perfect. Kinzie's a force to be reckoned with with her ability to create lethal cyber attacks. Got a bit too carried away myself after seeing the mayhem Paul was causing, and kinda caused a short fallout... I was just having so much fun rushing through the city to get from A to B to C afap.
I'm also assuming that fake title screen was for the first Saints Row. Very nice touch.
While the assault on Zinyak's ship was a bit slower paced without the rushing through a collapsing city, it was still fucking intense with all the Zin everywhere. It felt like an all-out war with no shortage of targets to shoot. It's what I loved the original Battlefront 1 and 2 (from Pandemic) for.
Grabbing the Power Suit though... that music... Man that got me pumped (and most definitely a copyright claim). That skydiving part was really cumbersome to control though. It wasn't moving based on the left analog stick. I had to use the right stick to aim the camera and get the suit to dive based on the angle of THAT. It was REALLY unintuitive, but I mean it let The Boss use her super powers in the real world AND had a cool basic blast attack.
Also, one of the objectives for that segment was "Be A Badass". You can't argue with that.
The final fight with Zinyak... I'd been waiting for that moment for so long. Power suit or not, his mech hit like a fucking truck! If you stand still too long, he'll just outright kill you with that kind of damage output. After seeing the first bout of damage he dealt, I knew I'd be hopping around a lot to attack from different vantage points if I wanted to live. The part with the minions helped satiate my desire for blood and kept the pace up a bit. When the rest of the crew came in to help, that felt so satisfying and I could feel the sense of victory right there.
And true to The Boss' word, she ripped ZInyak's goddamn head off! I gotta admit, that part disturbed me a bit, but only because I liked ZInyak's character and that brutalizing decapitation hit me with the realization that it was really over. The journey was.. done.
And of course this would result in The Boss getting her own empire to rule over. Now the beginning portion of the game with that speech makes sense. It was showing The Boss sitting on Zinyak's throne. And then later we get to see the (naked) person who's been behind the narrator voice this whole time - Jane Austin. I need to look her up, because I feel like I'm missing some context or story. She's got a nice bod, though.
Wasn't expecting that huge dance party at the end, much less to see Zinyak there too. Johnny bombed it, but he never seemed like a dancer. Didn't expect Matt to be that great either. Shaundi, Asha, and Kinzie absolutely killed it though. Shaundi showed her fun self was still in there, Asha had the flare and attitude that made it easy seeing why Matt was digging her, and Kinzie definitely had the most outgoing moves. Wasn't expecting Ben (Morpheus) King to be busting out the Matrix flips.
All in all, this was a great ending for this story, but that's just it. That's just the ending for the main story. There's definitely still more to come. There was content that I did a while ago that I held off from posting until AFTER this part, because it would make more sense story-wise.
And of course I HAVE to have myself some more shenanigans, now that I can do them in the daytime!
