Grandia ReDux is a hack that modifies many things in game. Character stats are greatly changed, skills are buffed/nerfed, equipment changed, new items/spells, and most importantly, the difficulty has been rebalanced to provide a more challenging game overall.

ISOs should be easy enough to find on your own.

This fight, oh god this fight. By far the hardest fight in the game.

Baal himself is damn near impossible to damage. Sporting 3000 Vit and immunity to all elements & debuffs, he's not gonna go down without an overpowering amount of effort that'll probably tear your hair out, given what he's capable of in this fight.

Fortunately, there's one other way to end this fight and that's to take out his Gaia Tentacle.

While all of your attacks will be effective on the Gaia Tentacle, it boasts the highest HP of any boss or body part thus far, a staggering 25000 HP.

Attack wise, Baal himself has three options.

First, he can smack a character for around 150-300 damage and induce a random status ailment such as plague, poison, sleep, and so on...everything's fair game here.

He can also use Gaia Power to heal himself for 400 HP. This is only going to concern someone if they attempt a challenge where they try to take down Baal instead of the Gaia Tentacle.

Finally, everybody's unfavorite skill, Vanish. I know I've mentioned how pretty much every boss in this stage of the game will be able to use this, but Baal deserves special mention. He loves to spam this sucker so much more often than other bosses, especially if you have tons of buffs/debuffs up.

As for the Gaia Tentacle, it has three skills it'll abuse.

Gaia Fang is an earth elemental attack that hits a large area around it for 80-150 damage and debuffs Wit by 1 level for those affected.

Gaia Strike can go to hell, die in a car fire, then die in a 2nd car fire...and maybe a 3rd one cause yeah. It hits a single character for around 250-300 damage. Doesn't seem like much, but there are two things that make it suck royally:

A. It doesn't rely on Gaia Tentacle's Str stat & it's non-elemental. If Liete has any defensive weaknesses, it's these kinds of attacks. She's likely to get OHKO'd by this attack unless you've overgrinded her mace level a fair deal.

B. It'll stun the character for a goddamn long time if they survive the attack. Not paralysis, oh no. Pure rage inducing goddamn stun. It's probably better to let the character die if another attack is aimed at them. You can revive the downed person and they'll be able to act much quicker than if you let that stun run out on its own.

So...how do you win this fight?

Feena, for one of the rare times in these late game boss videos, forgoes using Time Gate. Baal's high tendency to use Vanish meant I was taking too much of a risk of having them wiped out and basically be down 90 lv1 MPs + whatever else I spend during the duration it lasts.

Instead, she just casts a single Boost on Rapp, then focuses on healing & reviving (There's likely gonna be a ton of deaths in this fight I assure you). If she happens to get an opening, I may consider having her buff Justin once or attack with Zap! Whip. Even with her Chantwhip that has no attack, she can still knock off a decent chunk of Gaia Tentacle's HP.

Justin spams Midair Cut while acting as a backup healer & reviver should Feena not be able to get a turn in on time.

Rapp & Liete are the primary damage dealers here. Rapp spams Doppelganger until I can't use it anymore, then a Demonball if he has the SP for it, otherwise he just resorts to normal attacks on the tentacle.

Liete...GadZap until she runs out of lv3 MPs, then switches over to Meteor Strike, then, if needed, Magic Art.

Baal does drop a nice little weapon that will replace Liete's Magic Rod. It'll last her until the bosses of the ToT.

Things went about as well as I could have hoped for here. I did have some close calls at a few points, namely having to revive two people back to back.
