Grandia ReDux is a hack that modifies many things in game. Character stats are greatly changed, skills are buffed/nerfed, equipment changed, new items/spells, and most importantly, the difficulty has been rebalanced to provide a more challenging game overall.

Getting closer to the end game now. Of course, that means every boss from here on out is going to be a royal pain to deal with.

Mage King is no exception to that rule. Without Feena here to provide healing, this fight quickly becomes a pain to manage well with all the damage that comes in.

Mage King is the upgraded version of Lord's Ghost from the Castle of Dreams. That means the wand (with 7648 HP) is immune to magic while the main body (with 13298 HP) is near immune to physicals.

Wand still hits hard as crazy hell with its normal attack. We're talking 200+ damage to those hit at least. This part needs to drop first and fast.

Main body spams the ever living crap out of Burnflare which hits for 100-200 damage to everyone.

The head still spams a beam attack, but instead of X-Ray, it's now Divide Beam.

The good news? The damage is laughable and can be shrugged off.

The bad news? It sticks a -7 max HP debuff on those hit. Really really nasty it is.

There's a third risk to this fight, but only if you're paranoid about saving a certain item. Revival Stones auto revive the character holding it one time should he/she get KO'd, then disappear from the person's inventory. You'll find one of these in the Spirit Sanctuary, but there's no stashing place in the dungeon. That means you can't allow the designated holder of the stone to die or you lose the item that could prove to be useful for the final battles.

Liete is best suited to take the stone. Even if she eats a Divide Beam, she still can take a Burnflare or wand physical, provided she's at full HP. She can also throw up a Protect if the situation calls for it.

As for battle strategy...

Obviously you want that wand to drop first. There's no way you can handle its attacks + Burnflare back to back without losing people left and right. Liete's Protect can keep a character shielded for a long time if she's got the Grandia Rod + Gauntlets of Light + Tablet equipped for a +7 boost to her magic. Justin can save himself with his Immortal Aura killer move as well if needed.

With the wand gone, go spam GadZap/Meteor Strike/Fireburner until the main body folds while keeping everyone healthy.

Some decent rewards from the fight, mainly that large chunk of xp.
