In this part, two more jurors pass a guilty verdict, and Ryunosuke examines the murder weapon. The next time he presses testimony, a fifth juror passes a guilty verdict.

The last juror believes McGilded is innocent, because he is a nice man. Van Zieks reveals the McGilded is in the business of extorting people, by giving them loans with high interest rates. This ties into the motive, as the victim owed McGilded money. The last juror is convinced by this, and she renders a guilty verdict, as well.

The trial is suspended, and the court prepares to render its verdict. Susato discovers an obscure legal event, called a summation examination. That is, each juror must explain why they think the defendant is guilty, and Ryunosuke gets to question their reasoning.
