GREEN HELL VR might be the BEST VR SURVIVAL game on PC... // New VR Games 2022
727Green Hell VR on Quest 2 was a huge success in my opinion, the developers at Incuvo managed to get a large scale survival game with solid visuals and complex mechanics (plus a tonne of replayability) onto a native VR headset, but all eyes have been on the Green Hell VR PC release for a while now as it looked poised to be a FAR more visually impressive and open world experience when compared to the standalone version. Well I've been going hands on with some Green Hell VR PC gameplay for a couple of weeks now and I'm happy to report that this is one of the best VR survival games out there...IF you can run it on your PC. Green Hell VR is no slouch, on my RTX 2080, i7 9700k & 32GB RAM setup I can run the game on the highest settings with godrays enabled but occassional framedrops and jerky moments are still fairly common meaning those with lower spec PCs will need to drop the settings to achieve a smooth gaming experience. If you do have the rig to run it though Green Hell VR on PC is a much more faithful recreation of the original flat game with more immersive features and systems when compared to the Quest 2 counterpart.
If you're looking for a VR survival crafting game to for PC that can rival The Forest (still one of the best VR survival games to date) then Green Hell VR is a solid contender. Almost everything from the Quest 2 version is handled differently here, the world is much less linear, the visuals are stunning, the crafting is more immersive (and requires the use of a crafting table meaning experimentation is rewarded and enjoyable), there are unique mechanics for swimming and a plethora or smart little design choices like using Ants to sew up lacerations to your limbs (yep, thats a thing). It isn't an easy game and it will require you to dig deep into your patience reserves but if you click with these types of games Green Hell VR will likely be the most fun you have with a new VR game so far in 2022. Footage was captured on Quest 2 airlink connection, during my testing performance seemed to improve when using a wired Rift S headset with dedicated display port connection.
