Treasure's spin off of Gunstar Heroes is a master pieces on the Sega Saturn and a game every console owner should have. A great multiplayer game and many would say it was the best scrolling beat'em up ever made. Branching routes, multi endings, versus mode, tons of secrets and a near perfect combat balance make this a game you will play over and over again. Enjoy this gameplay video as Han on the first few opening stages.

It's just a huge shame that the Gameboy Advance follow up was such a bad game and that the XBLA port was a bit of mess. With a rather poor new translation of the script that lacked the character of the Saturn release and a number of changes to the fighting and magic system that didn't work. This is one game where the Saturn version is king even the awesome guitar riff used for the GAME OVER screen is missing in the XBLA version.

Also known as: ガーディアン ヒーローズ (Japan)

Release: 1996
Developer: Treasure / トレジャー
Publisher: Sega / セガ
Format: Sega Saturn (SS) / セガサターン

As mentioned above Guardian Heroes is also available on XBLA Arcade for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
