Note that all references to Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock also correspond to Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero.

This video will show you which guitar controllers are compatible with Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and Band Hero games on Nintendo Wii and which guitar controllers are not. This video covers:

Authentic Guitar Hero-issued guitar controllers, including the Gibson Les Paul and the Guitar Hero "Genericaster",

The Nyko FrontMan third-party guitar controller,

as well as the Fender Stratocaster guitar controller that ships with the Rock Band series of games.

Not all guitar controllers are compatible with Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and Band Hero games on Nintendo Wii. Essentially, if you are finding it impossible to properly hit notes using a Fender Stratocaster guitar controller, it is not you who is at fault or who is to blame for these missed notes: essentially, the RockBand Fender Stratocaster guitar controller is poorly supported in Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and Band Hero games. When using the Fender Stratocaster in Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero, timing is completely off; it is seemingly impossible to fix the latency issue by using in-game calibration, and even if you re-calibrate, this will still not solve the problem of missed or dropped notes. Input lag is practically immeasurable when using a Fender Stratocaster in GH5, GH:WOR or BH, whereas in some instances you have to hit/strum ahead of the notes, in others you have to hit/strum later than the note, in others you have to hit/strum the note directly, and sadly some notes just can't be hit or strummed no matter how far ahead, behind, or on target you hit or strum the note. So unless you are using the Fender Stratocaster guitar controller to play Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero on Easy difficulty and don't mind missing notes every off and on, the compatibility between the Fender Strat and Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock and Band Hero games is questionable.

Unlike the Fender Stratocaster, the Nyko FrontMan takes the guesswork out of the whole compatibility question: the Nyko FrontMan simply does not function in Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero! The guitar controller will allow you to load the game through the Wii Menu, but once the front end of Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero is reached, the guitar then serves no function and does not allow you to proceed past the title screen or main menu.

Sadly, only Guitar Hero or Band Hero-issued guitar controllers are fully compatible with Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero. Fortunately, this is not the case with microphone and drum peripherals, where unlike the guitar controllers, RockBand microphones and drum controllers function just fine in Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock or Band Hero
