Half-L.A.I.F. 2 - Chapter 9a - Entanglement
Half-Life 2 - Looking around is forbidden
My attempt at playing through the entire HL2 series without ever looking around using the mouse or whatever input methods you could think of.
This is a segmented run, not aiming for speed, but merely to get through. Each video starts where the last one left off. If you see any weird cuts, it's because of Source's save stutter. Similarly, some graphical errors occur due to reloading saves.

I expected this to be one of the easiest chapters of the run, but someone was pretty wrong about that.
It took an hour just to record it, planning and testing was a matter of days. And that wasn't even enough!
There's no easy way to change our angle for the entire first map - save deletion would make matters worse.
That's why the grenade throw used to blow out the plug had to be chained into another grenade throw.
With a grenade jump over a force field, we skip a turret combat sequence.
The first prop clip of this chapter was a bit special, since we used a SMG grenade to propel ourselves backwards.
That was the only way to get past the two doors, as they require turning to an angle that isn't really reachable for us.
Now comes another interesting trick: we use the headcrab to keep the auto-closing door from fully closing.
That allows us to rotate away from one door, enough of an angle change to open a third door later down the road.
This took the longest to figure out, as I did not realize there were three doors when first planning.
The second prop clip helps us skip another annoying turret combat sequence.
Unlike my previous assumptions, the teleportation does NOT actually reset our viewing angle, but it seems like that does not matter for the following chapter.
