I played this game back in 2006, and I bought the game from Amazon.com. I still have the original game which came in a plastic box, but you had to activate the add on on Steam. The game I am played to make this video was the original game that I purchased in 2006. I played this game on a Pentium 4 3.0 ghz HT with a Geforce 6800 GT 128 mb AGP, 1 GB of DDR 3200 dimm, with a 250 gb hdd. When I made this video, I played this game on a I7-4790k 4.0 ghz, Geforce GTX 970 4 gb, 32 gb DDR3 PC12800 with a 500 GB Samsung EVO 840 SSD.
One of the good things about being able to play this game on Steam is that the game is constantly updated, so you can play the game on the latest hardware. The game itself does require you to solve puzzles to get through obstacles, and it is very much like the original Half-Life 1 game in that respect.
This game is a extension or a continuation of Half-Life 2, and if you finished Half-Life you then it will make a lot sense. In the end of Half-Life 2, you ended up destroyed the Citadel and closing the portal to the Combine. The Citadel was a nexus for the Combine to connect their dimension or universe to planet Earth. In Half-Life 1 starts out with you being part of an experiment to open a portal to another dimension, and this opened the portal to a invasion from another dimension. As a result, Black Mesa was the staging area for an alien invasion, and this invasion succeeded in conquering the entire planet in a 7 hours. In Half-Life 2, you and Alyx Vance were able to stop Dr. Breen from escaping. This resulted in the Citadel in city 17 from getting destabilized.
In this add on game, your goal is to evacuate city 17, and get a away from the Citadel which is going to melt down and cause mass destruction. In other words, you need to get away from the blast radius of the Citadel's core reactor.
