[Synopsis]

This video is an instructional video about the Recalbox, which is based on the Retropie emulator for the Raspberry Pi platform. Being able to play emulators on a X86 or X64 CISC based computer will allow you to get the optimal experience when played emulated games. Emulators will run more smoothly without any frame skips, and other performance issues.

Test Computer Specs
♦ CPU/Processor ► Xeon W3690 3.46 ghz hexa-core socket 1366
♦ GPU/Graphics Card ► MSI Geforce GTX 770 2 gb PCI-E 3.0 x 16
♦ RAM/Memory ► 16 gb DDR3 PC12800 240 pin

Recalbox has many different emulators in it, like the Atari 2600 to the Playstation 2 emulator. Depending on the emulator you run, you will need the appropriate hardware to run them. If you want to run a Playstation 2 emulator, you will need a powerful computer.

As for using a USB ISO image to load operating systems is a very old idea, you are able to this with various discos of Linux. Your operating system wasn't affected in anyway, the only difference is that you can boot into another operating system, and you can go back into the BIOS to boot into your main operating system.

[Procedure]

◙ Download Recalbox @ https://www.recalbox.com/
◙ Download and Install Etcher if you don't already have it, or another iso to flash drive utility.
◙ Run Etcher and select a iso image of recalbox, and select a USB flash drive. Don't use a flash
drive is less than 32 gb in storage space. Make sure you select the right flash drive.
◙ After you finish, hook up your USB gamepad, and your USB flash drive with Recalbox in your
computer.
◙ Power your computer on, and go into the BIOS. For my computer, it is the "F2" key, but your
computer could be the delete key or some other key. Consult your motherboard manual, or
Google it to find out.
◙ After you get into the BIOS, change the boot sequence, so your computer will boot into a
USB flash drive with Recalbox on it.
◙ Save your settings in your BIOS, and exit the BIOS.
◙ Boot into Recalbox, select Recalbox, and this may take anywhere from 5 to 9 minutes, because
Recalbox is configuring your hardware settings.
◙ When you boot into Recalbox, configure your controls. Press any button and keep it pressed,
and you can change the control settings. Just follow directions to press the buttons and
directional buttons to set the controls.
◙ Press the start button to go into the configuration menu.
◙ Go into the network settings, and find out the LAN(Local Area Network) IP address, and the
host name. The host name is RECALBOX, you must enter it in all caps on your computer.
◙ If you are using a Windows based computer like me. Go to Windows Explorer, and type in
\\RECALBOX . This will get you into the RECALBOX core directory. Look up the ROMs folder, and
put your rom files. There will be a list for different systems, for example the NES, Genesis, etc.
Place the rom folder in the NES rom folder.
◙ Go back to your Recalbox computer. Select a emulator where you put your games in.
◙ Press start, and select Update Games Lists. This will load the games you put in, so you can
see them and use them.
◙ Go back to the main menu, and use the scraper to add images to your roms. Press start, and
select scraper. The time this takes to complete will depend on how many roms you have in
your flash drive.
◙ To play roms, just select the emulator, select the roms and press the A or B button. All roms
will not run, but most of them will run.
◙ To shutdown Recalbox, press the hot button and A or B together to get to the main menu.
Press start to get to the main menu, and go to shutdown. Shutdown will turn off your computer,
and restart will re boot your computer.
