To my surprise, my 10 year old computer still performs well. I put this computer together back around Sept 2009, and it was my main computer from late 2009 to the middle of 2013. It was replaced with a I5-3570k based computer, and I still use that computer now as a 2ndry computer. I do have a primary computer which is a I7-4790k. I took this computer to work, and use it at work from 2013 to 2016. Then, I retired it after it became totally outdated for that task, and I put it in storage after I failed to sell it. I tend to use equipment until it becomes completely outdated, and I do the same with cars as well. I usually keep any machine until I get the most use out of it, I tend to keep automobiles for about 8 to 10 years. This is why I like upgrading things to try to get the most use out of it.

This computer is still very functional if you wish to use it as basic computer, like office software(spread sheets, Word Processing), internet, email, file server, fax server, steaming videos from the internet, web apps, and watch DVD movies. It can do something a single board computer, like the Raspberry Pi series, Panda Latte... cannot do very well which is multi tasking. As for gaming, I tried to put a Geforce GTX 770 graphics card in it to play a game, like Fallout 4 and I was disappointed with the results. It was unplayable. The CPU does tend to bottleneck when you try to run 3d intensive programs, like AutoCAD, edit videos, or play the latest 3d games. As for a basic home computer, or a office computer it is more than adequate.

Most people who use computers don't play games, use 3d intensive programs, compile programs, or create any kind of content on them. Most users use a computer, like a person in the 1970s and 1980s used a analog telephone, or an appliance. Smartphone phones can basically perform these basic tasks, so this explains why computer sales have been declining for years. In addition, for most casual users, a computer like this would be enough for most people. Therefore, most people don't need computers, just like people in the 1980s didn't buy a analog every year. When you had an analog phone back in the 1980s, you would have it for years. It seems like computers are becoming like this.
