Half-Nuked | Deja Vu | No Failure Run
I think I mentioned Deja Vu at some point while running other sets with Half-Nuked. I don't remember. Quite a specimen, this particular mapset. Starts off in Wolf3D's E1M1, goes off to Duke3D's E1L1, with secret maps in between for extra runtime. Of course I was gonna try to modmix the two together.
Some creative liberties were taken, and I don't think a good chunk of the textures were ported properly, but it's overall not too bad of a take. You might notice some music tracks in this vid that weren't there in the original. It's all done in post editing, unfortunately.
Could probably wirejam things like E1M1/E1L1's triggers to play the appropriate music, but HL1 has this habit of cutting out music in level transitions. It wasn't gonna work out with how DJV does its maps, which is separated into multiple chunks instead of a big one like the classics. Alas and alack.
The mapset itself was alright, aside from one particularly irritating set of doors in the secret map that got me jammed halfway through it, multiple times. I would say a Build joke here regarding doors, but atleast the ones here didn't render my run suddenly invalid from instant death. Can't complain too much, I guess.
