자신만의 캐릭터를 직접 설계하고, 끝없이 몰려오는 적을 상대로 생존을 이어가는 생존형 액션 게임입니다. 단순히 주어지는 캐릭터로 싸우는 것이 아니라, 스킬부터 스탯, 외형까지 모두 커스터마이징할 수 있어 나만의 전투 스타일을 구성하는 재미가 핵심이죠.
초기에는 두 종류의 캐릭터만 사용 가능하지만, 게임 내에서 획득한 골드를 활용해 새로운 캐릭터를 해금하거나 완전히 자유로운 커스텀 캐릭터를 생성할 수 있습니다. 커스터마이징은 시작 스킬, 고유 특성, 능력치, 외형까지 모두 설정할 수 있으며, 설정한 캐릭터는 언제든지 다시 불러와 사용할 수 있죠.
게임을 시작하면 몬스터들이 자동으로 스폰되어 플레이어를 향해 몰려옵니다. 적을 처치하면서 경험치와 골드를 획득하고, 레벨이 오르면 스킬이나 스탯 강화 중 하나를 선택해 캐릭터를 성장시킬 수 있습니다. 스탯은 총 6종으로 구성되어 있으며, 각기 다른 능력에 영향을 주기에 플레이 스타일에 따라 집중 분배하는 것도 가능합니다.
특히, 스킬 선택은 무작위로 제시되는 2개의 스킬과 1개의 스탯 강화 옵션 중 하나를 선택하는 구조이며, 스킬의 타겟팅이 다소 애매하게 느껴질 수 있어 전략적인 판단이 필요합니다. 일정 웨이브마다 등장하는 보스를 처치하면 아이템 보상이 주어지고, 주사위 혹은 카드 미니게임을 통해 대량의 능력치를 획득할 기회도 주어지죠.
게임은 30분간 생존을 목표로 진행되며, 시간이 지날수록 적의 공격력과 체력이 증가해 난이도가 크게 상승합니다. 제한 시간을 넘기면 정체불명의 강력한 적이 등장해 게임을 마무리하게 되며, 그 과정에서 수집한 골드로 영구적인 강화 및 새로운 콘텐츠를 해금할 수 있습니다.
전체적으로 커스터마이징 자유도와 반복 플레이에 기반한 성장 루프가 인상적이며, 짧고 밀도 있는 전투가 빠른 몰입감을 제공합니다. 다만, 업적 시스템이 없고 도전과제가 금방 완료되는 구조는 장기적인 동기부여에는 다소 아쉬운 점으로 남습니다.

Halftime Heroes is a survival action game where you don’t just pick a character—you build one from scratch. From their starting skills and stats to how they look, everything is customizable, letting you tailor your survivor for the perfect run.
At first, you’re given two preset heroes, but as you collect gold, you can unlock more or create custom characters. You’ll choose their starting traits, gear, and visual style, giving you full control over how you want to play.
Once the battle begins, waves of enemies continuously spawn and close in. You’ll gain experience and gold by defeating them, level up, and choose between randomized skills or stat boosts to evolve your build. There are six core stats to invest in, and each supports a different style of play—whether you’re focused on damage, evasion, or luck-based effects.
Bosses appear periodically, and defeating them rewards you with loot through dice rolls or card mini-games like blackjack or high-low, giving you bursts of stat gains. As the game progresses, enemies grow tougher and deadlier, eventually culminating in a mysterious final boss at the 30-minute mark that few can outrun.
When you die, your run ends, but gold carries over to unlock permanent upgrades: better base stats, quest systems, new maps, and more. While combat is satisfying and character building is deep, the lack of long-term achievements and occasionally awkward skill targeting might leave hardcore players wanting more.
Still, with its blend of custom creation and intense action, Halftime Heroes is a great pick for players who love to tweak, survive, and thrive.
