Halo 1 Tricking - The SLYNK Launch Method - Tutorial
A very short and simple tutorial video, detailing a launch method I discovered years ago. Somewhat recently, I was surprised to learn that no one realized just how effective this method is, so I thought it might be nice to do a little tutorial. I also decided to name it after myself, just to enjoy at least one person being upset at me being unoriginal :D
This method only works with plasma grenades (frag grenades are too erratic), and if you do it properly, it is EXTREMELY consistent (like 90% consistency, it's insane), not to mention it's far more powerful than traditional vertical launches. It has everything! If you want to give Halo 1 launching a go, I highly recommend this method. Hope you like the video!
When I first picked up Halo 1 tricking a decade ago, there was really only one vertical launch method, and it involved simply standing on the warthog turret. I struggled with this method a lot, it wasn't very consistent, and not very powerful. How anyone ever managed to do it with frag grenades in single player boggles my mind, those old school launchers were incredible. I tried jumping off of every point on the warthog I could, seeing if I could make it easier on myself, until finally I stumbled upon this method. The key to it was jumping before the grenade went off. For some reason that made it ridiculously consistent, and I noticed I was getting a lot more power out of my launches, so I started launching like this every where. Then maybe a year ago or more, I launched from the bottom of Halo to the top, as a homage to Ms. Man, and I noticed in my Twitch chat, my friend Lone Starr commented on the consistency, followed by Mator, which is when I realized I had never really explained the method. It popped into my head the other day, and I thought it might be nice to detail it now. For any old school trickers watching, I encourage you to give this a whirl!
As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to answer them.
