0Somewhat ironically, despite being comprised of genre-defining console shooters the Halo series has always made a strong case for mouse and keyboard controls. You don't need a computer mouse to blast mindless AI drones in Call of Duty, but that extra level of precision sure comes in handy when dealing with the complex emergent battlefields of a Halo game. The enemies aren't always particularly clever, but they are unusually mobile and tend to make a lot of sudden dodges. Especially on the harder difficulty settings, there's simply no time to sit around and carefully waggle the analog sticks. I spent a lot of my free time during this past week playing through Halo: Reach on the 360 for the first time (on the Heroic difficulty level), and although it's a pretty impressive shooter overall I was often frustrated by the slow and ungainly controls which severely limited my ability to efficiently handle the relentless onslaught of Covenant forces.
