Halo: Combat Evolved (Xbox) [#2]

I have now finished Halo 1 for the third time (first time on the original Xbox), and it's still a really weird game. I had somehow forgotten that the second half of the campaign is just a retread of the same levels from earlier in the game. I guess this is appropriate given that the first half ends with the mission 343 Guilty Spark; which basically repeats *itself* by stacking identical-looking corridors in a linear sequence and then calling it a day...
However, there is still somehing wonderfully dynamic and chaotic about Halo's combat that no other FPS series has managed to capture. Even The Flood add some much-needed variety to the gameplay and forces the player to change strategy (or simply get out of the way while Covenant and Flood happily go after each other).
