Halo: Reach (The Master Chief Collection) - Part 9
0I play through The Package in the ninth part of this playthrough. NOBLE Team is given orders to destroy SWORD Base in a torch-and-burn op known as Operation: WHITE GLOVE.
NOBLE Team and their allies begin to fight off Covenant forces, and they come across an operational Scorpion. They are assigned two anti-air towers to destroy so they can airdrop into SWORD Base, with the Scorpion taking them out. After eliminating Covenant defenses, NOBLE Team enters the base as they prepare to breach it. They enter the maintenance hall and climb up a series of catwalks, fighting with Jackals on their way to the top. They proceed to the coordinates, fight off Sangheili, and eventually come across a door with the ONI emblem on it. They enter a corridor with Auntie Dot through COM checking the vector for their revised route. Dr. Halsey through Video COM says that the data module Kat procured from Visegrád Station contained precisely what my Professor Laszlo Sorvad promised: a latchkey discovery. It has unlocked the secrets of the excavation. Halsey instructs NOBLE Team to assure the delivery of the data to a secure location. Carter says that their orders are to destroy all sensitive material, but Halsey says others will handle the demolition. She adds that Colonel Holland will be briefed. NOBLE Team defends Halsey’s lab from an onslaught of enemy forces. The door is eventually opened, with Six and his team entering the lab. Dr. Halsey is still preparing the Package (an armored matrix carrying the AI that Halo fans know as Cortana), she explains that the AI is its custodian, and she has chosen NOBLE Team as her couriers. Halsey tasks NOBLE Team with taking Cortana to the Asźod ship breaking yards, then getting her off planet via a Halcyon-class light cruiser. Dr. Halsey hands the Package to Six, trusting him with it as Cortana has chosen him. The team must make sure nothing falls into enemy hands. NOBLE Team and Dr. Halsey walk out of a tunnel leading to two Pelicans. Both Pelicans take off, with Auntie Dot reporting through COM that UNSC Pillar of Autumn is waiting for the team.
Carter, Six, and Emile attempt to fight off Covenant aircrafts in pursuit, but the Pelican takes damage, and Carter is injured. Carter tells Six that he must get off the Pelican, and Emile tells Six to go with him. He adds that Cortana chose Six, and she made the right choice. Holding the Package tight, Six and Emile jump out the Pelican on Carter's mark, impacting the ground. Checking the Package for damage and placing it on his back, Six looks up the road ahead, knowing what his mission is.
