Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle - The Deck Building Game
4The excellent "Hogwarts Battle Deck Building Game" from USAoploy, until now only available officially from the USA, I take a semi spoiler free look, ahead of the Expansion that should be out later this week.
In the game you get to play through 7 years/books and try to fend of the Dark Wizards, in a semi Legacy style series of progression using a fun light weight Deck building engine. The game is made up of great film stills, fun game play, thematic progression and some wizardly excellent components. I enjoyed playing from start to finish.
Downsides - Can suffer with Random difficulty, basic gameplay, some components better than others, more fun for Potter fans than non fans, best the first time you play, some cards could do with replacements as game moves on and issues with first printing. Initially not officially available outside the USA
Upsides - thematically fun and engaging gameplay, semi legacy (reset when done), the first taste is excellent, mostly superb components, my copy had no errors, simple enough for younger players, some great fan created content (see BGG), a great game for Potter fans and its even decent for non fans. Also its final coming to Europe!
