Hideous Destructor | Lilith: Chopping Down the BSP Tree | No Failure Run | Part 1
Warning: I know I tend to play mods that are pretty flashy (stuff like Hideous Destructor with all the vision effects and Touhou Doom with all the bullethell, for instance), but Lilith is particularly known to be quite the rapid flasher. If you're the kind to suffer problems from that, it might be wise for your health to skip this one. You have been warned.
Did some adjustments to the original mod to allow this thing to be run in GZD. It was shockingly easy, tore off the autoscript that jumps you off to the non-playable map, then went through the map wads one-by-one to do the same for any internal GZD detecting stuff.
I kinda expected everything to fall apart and just crash outright the moment I launch Lilith with this thing, what with all the warnings and the entire debacle surrounding this mapset and GZDoom, but surprisingly, most of it worked. I say most, 'cause Refraction Error does stuff with reflections that GZD's engine couldn't bare, finally getting a constant crash in a particular area. I had to move over some of the teleports and tear out some of the mirrors to finally allow me to finish the map. But, yeah! Aside from that one problem, I was able to go from the very start all the way to the finish line. It's quite nice!
The thought came to me whether or not I should upload the modified file. Like I said, there was quite a debacle with this mod and GZD, and I fear that uploading a version that could be run without it kicking you off might lead to some problems, both directly or indirectly. I went for the least problematic route and decided not to upload the thing, only linking the original mod. Sorry about that.
Anyways, this map in particular. I don't really intend to NFR the entirety of Lilith with HDest, still focusing on running Lost Civ at the moment. For now I'm just going through Map05. All the flashing colors and wacky glitches burdened the recording sadly, so it's split into two. Taking on Lilith with HDest in general was pretty tough, since some of the "glitches" makes it a pinch difficult to combat the altered enemies. From enemies being obscured to the environment itself being unfriendly, this mapset definitely felt like something else being beaten with HDest.
