Hideous Destructor | Star Wars Doom | No Failure Runs | Part 7
From the 5 maps after the initial Blockade Runner and Chasm/Detention Facility, I think this one is the better one of the 5. Unfortunately, the terrible giant wall surrounding the map and the giant logs cut off by the blue sky ruins any "imagination" of the map taking place in a great forest.
I quite liked the implementation of the "I think I got it!" jape included in this part of the map, though the trek to the Ewok's base could've been done better as it was too hidden off to the side. Thanks to HD's slowed speed, it definitely took a while just to get to the base acquiring a keycard and back.
There's some interesting usages of corridor "teleporters" to "expand" the areas of the map (the precursor to the portals used in mods like Blade of Agony to have locations that look connected but take place in separate areas of the map), and the sequence with the raising the shuttle ship before you could exit the map was done alright. You can definitely tell the author was improving with time as they were making the map.
Anyway, next part's the last one in the set, can't wait to see how the revenant/arch-vile fight goes with Vader and Sideous.
