Higgs Boson & the Fate of the Universe
The Higgs boson particle discovery was a key step in understanding how mass and our universe work. It will help us understand how our universe began...and how it will end!
Joseph Lykken, a theoretical physicist with the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois spoke about his finding based on the Higgs boson. There is still work to be done to confirm whether what was found by scientists in July of 2012 is indeed the Higgs, but if it is, we can also confirm that our universe is finite. According to Lykken, it's possible a alternate universe will expand and destroy our own...at lightspeed.
Don't be too sad about the instability about our universe. This is all projected to happen "billions and billions" of years in the future, probably way after the sun has engulfed the earth...or humans wipe themselves out.
