Meteorite Explodes Over Russia (Video)
A meteorite shot toward earth over Russia's Ural Mountains Friday, causing panic, reports of cell phone outages, and even some theories the burst was caused by a Russian air missile. Many amateur videos caught the action and the sonic boom. Residents in the city of Chelyabinsk, the largest in the affected region, described a shock wave that smashed glass, moved furniture, and set off car alarms.
Some thought the meteroite might have something to do with asteroid 2012 DA14, though NASA and the European Space Agency were quick to say that the two objects have no connection. So, what do you think? Was the incident a bolide, or "asteroid airburst," or do you think the unconfirmed reports of an air defense missile are true? Let me know in the comments, and as in everyday life, DO AS WILL WHEATON SAYS.
