Families and friends have gathered to wave off Portsmouth-based warship HMS Iron Duke as the crew sail for a six month deployment to the Arabian Gulf. This will be the first time the Type 23 frigate has deployed to the region, where she will patrol shipping lanes and provide security. HMS Iron Duke will also carry out counter-terrorism and anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and protect Iraqi oil platforms.
