Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar - 5-Mask Solo (Shadow Priest)
Hey it's another World of Warcraft video! No commentary sorry - just my bizarre music playlist. This is the second half of my Mad World achievement (here's the Stormwind half: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqo5-SvJhM). I'm item level 451, cloak is maxed out (rank 15), and I don't have much of a corruption/Azerite build. I'm not a good Shadow Priest by any means and have no raiding or mythic+ gear, but still managed to do this! Hooray! Here's my stats:
Item Level: 451
Cloak: Rank 15
Talents:
Shadow Word: Void / Body and Soul / Misery / Psychic Horror / Shadow Word: Death / Mindbender / Dark Ascension
Corruptions:
1x Tier 3 Deadly Momentum
1x Tier 2 Twisted Appendage
1x Tier 1 Twisted Appendage
Essences:
Major - The Crucible of Flame (Rank 4)
Minors - Breath of the Dying (Rank 3) / Memory of Lucid Dreams (Rank 3) / Purification Protocol (Rank 3)
Azerite Traits:
2x Chorus of Insanity
1x Whispers of the Damned
1x Searing Dialogue
1x Death Throes
1x Thought Harvester
2x Heed My Call
1x Blood Siphon
1x Longstrider
1x Vampiric Speed
1x Impassive Visage
Consumables:
Greater Flask of Endless Fathoms
War-Scroll of Intellect
Ghastly Goulash (things were hitting me hard in this one so I swapped from Baked Voidfin)
K'Bab
Potion of Unbridled Fury
Drums of Fury
As you can see, my build is very slapdash. And it still worked just fine! You absolutely do not need to have a more hardcore build or even the best essences.
Notes on the run itself:
I found this run tougher than Stormwind. It took me four attempts! (Stormwind took two.)
My first goal was killing Gamon (if he's up) for the HP buff, then heading over to check the "bad" potion. After that, I would've gone to kill Naros the blacksmith (the other buff NPC), but he wasn't up this run because Gamon was.
Next I wanted to go fight Rexxar ASAP, because he's a terrifying ender-of-runs, and that required going through The Drag. The Drag itself isn't too bad. There's a mini-boss at the start (Annihilator Lak'hal) who isn't too tough and is a nice source of Sanity regen, though be careful that its pushback ability doesn't land you in your own void pools. After that, there's a chance for the second buff NPC to be available in the transmog hut (there'll be a clickable void gate to spawn it). This one doesn't like spawning for me though - I think I've only ever seen it once. So it didn't spawn and that means the other buff NPC is up... right near the end of the route I take in my run. Bah!
The boss of this area is a bit odd in that it's hard to proc Gift of the Titans before fighting him... at least with the way my kill timers were lining up. If your Gift is ready to proc, you can head over and click the mailbox to spawn an enemy to proc it off of, but mine wasn't so I just used a DPS potion instead. Use movement speed boosts if you have them during the fight - you do NOT want to get hit by Void Torrent! I also have trouble breaking his shield in time, but that's not a dealbreaker.
Next it's over to the Valley of Honor where Rexxar awaits. I don't usually have much trouble with the trash here, but something went REALLY wrong in my fight against the Aqir Mindhunter mini-boss. There was some geometry weirdness and it spawned all of its Toxic Volley pools in one spot... and I got hit because I got stuck on a fence. It insta-killed me and procced my Cheat Death, wasting it early. Not gonna lie - I was pretty tilted after this and wanted to give up the run, but I'm glad I didn't!
Now time for Rexxar. If you have excellent gear or you're a great bursty class, you can burn him and his adds down... but I couldn't on 3-mask, let alone 5. So I take the fight SUPER slow. He spawns his adds at certain health thresholds and they're the big danger, spamming a Sanity-draining attack at you. I start the fight with an Orb and a Gift of the Titans proc, go slow, kill the first add, more slow DPS, kill the second add, more slow DPS, then he spawns his two final adds (which is the big danger point) and I pop a potion, Drums, my fear, and start burning. Phew! Also Rexxar hits HARD!
Next is Valley of Wisdom, which is the other scary part of the run. The Voidcrazed Hulk mini-boss can eat a fair bit of Sanity, and the Coagulated Horror mini-boss killed one of my previous runs, so I dropped an Orb for it. Then I fought the boss (Vez'okk the Lightless) and got hit by its first stun, losing tons of Sanity. Eep! You can proc Gift of the Titans off the adds, though, thankfully.
Now it's the Valley of Spirits, which is pretty easy in comparison. Just don't forget to click the totems like I did. :P This is the other place your second buff NPC can spawn. Thanks for the buff, Bwemba. I could have used that 20 mins ago, you jerk!
And finally, the Thrall fight. I LOVE this fight! He starts with two of Rexxar's boars (EEK!) so I pop everything - Gift of the Titans, my last Orb, a potion, and Drums - and burn. Then it's pure mechanics.
VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this challenge. :)
