6After you get your very first star, there's a room you can unlock on the second floor of the entrance hall. This is a room with stained glasses of Princess Peach and a message from her. Since her soul is stuck in the wall, it's as if she used her will power to change the appearance of this room so that she could communicate with Mario. Unless she is a deity worshipped by the Toad people, I don't see any other reason why there would be such a room in the castle. She informs you that there are secret rooms in the castle that Bowser has not found and sealed. One of those secret doors is in this room, and since this room is quite small, it wasn't too hard to find. This first secret door leads to Princess Toadstool's secret slide. It's a fun little mini-game where you have to slide all the way down to the end of the slide while trying not to fall off the edge into an endless pit. Super Mario 64 is full of fun mini-games like this.
