The best Superman game ever made? #superman #deathofsuperman #snes
Even though I wasn’t into comic books at the time, I remember The Death of Superman being a pretty big deal. I thought the concept of a new generation of superheroes trying to succeed Superman was pretty cool. Therefore, I was really looking forward to trying out the beat-’em-up based on this comic. Me and my friend rented the SNES port and played it for a whole day. I recently finished it for the first time. Even though this game is still fresh in my mind, I feel like playing it again. So I’m doing this review as an excuse to do another playthrough. When I started the game, I was surprised to see that it was actually a Blizzard game. No wonder this is a good game. I’m not up to date on recent Blizzard games, but everything they did in the ’90s was great. Blackthorne, Rock ’N Roll Racing and Lost Vikings are some of my favorite games on the SNES. I’m definitely going to review these games someday. From the very beginning, you can definitely see that The Death and Return of Superman has the same Blizzard DNA as those three games. All SNES Blizzard games have a similar color palette and music font. This gives these games a unified vibe with an amazing atmosphere.
