Wing Commander: Privateer was released in 1993, when I was still in school. 28 years later, I still come back to it from time to time. The combination of the Wing Commander engine and an open world where you can do anything you like is still a good one.


Some people complain about the opening grind, but I think I got through that part of the game reasonably quickly.





Notes on duplication: be aware of energy consumption; this is a particular problem on the first run in a Tarsus with no engine upgrade.

The reason the second quadruplication failed is that a militia Talon flew in front of my turret and became the target. Moral of this story: lock onto cargo before quadruplicating it.
