A senior Royal Navy officer has revealed that Colonel Gaddafi's forces in Libya built beach defences, because they feared an amphibious invasion by British forces. Commodore John Kingwell who commanded the UK Response Force Task Group said that work on the defences began when the ships he commanded arrived in the waters off Libya. He's been telling an audience at the International Institute for Strategic Studies about the maritime dimension of the Libya conflict. Afterwards he spoke to Forces News.
