How to Adjust a GameCube Laser for Backup Discs | GameCube POT Tweak Tutorial
723Whether you have a hardmodded GameCube or are using a software based method to boot up backup games from mini DVD-R discs, you might have run into issues of games not working or giving disc read errors. In comes the POT tweak, a method in which the potentiometer for the DVD drive's is adjusted to lower resistance, therefore allowing more power to the laser. Most GameCube consoles do not need this if all you are doing is playing original discs, however almost all consoles will run into disc read issues of some kind if you do not adjust the potentiometer. However, if you do have a GameCube that is starting to have issues reading a few original games, this can still help!
Keep in mind that the recommended range is anywhere from 150 - 250 ohms of resistance, it is not at all recommended to drop the resistance lower than 150! On the consoles I have worked on, I've personally had the best results between 150 - 175 ohms.
