To appear offline and be invisible to your friends on your Steam Deck, follow these steps:

Power on your Steam Deck or bring it out of sleep mode.
Tap your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.
Click on the dropdown menu next to your username.
Select “Invisible” to appear offline to your friends while still being able to chat and play games.

If you want to completely go offline and not be visible at all, you can:

Press the Steam button on your Steam Deck.
Navigate to Settings and select the Internet tab.
Choose “Enter Offline Mode” and confirm.
