How to Block Someone on Facebook Messenger

Hi. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'm going to talk through how to block someone on Facebook Messenger.
Facebook Messenger rolled out in August 2011, and is a messaging service that gives Facebook and non-Facebook users the ability to send individual or group messages, images, GIFs, emojis, payments, play games, and much more. One of the downsides of the service is that people you may not know can reach out to you, which makes it easy for people you don't know to potentially harass you through the service. Whether it's someone you know or someone you don't know who's bothering you on Facebook Messenger, you can easily block someone to stop receiving messages from them through the service. This video talks through how to block someone from sending you messages in the Facebook Messenger app for Apple and Android smart devices, and the Messenger feature on the Facebook web site.
And now, the steps to block someone on Facebook Messenger on an Apple or Android smart device.
Step 1. Launch the Facebook Messenger app on your smart device.
Step 2. Tap the "Home" button in the menu that appears along the bottom of the screen, if it isn't selected already.
Step 3. Tap the picture associated with your profile in the upper left corner of the screen. The Me window opens, displaying information associated with your Facebook Messenger profile.
Step 4. Tap "People" in the list of options that appear on the Me screen. The People screen appears.
Step 5. Tap "Blocked." The Blocked window appears, displaying a list of all people you've currently blocked on either Facebook or in Facebook Messenger.
Step 6. Tap the blue "Add Someone" button. A Block screen appears, displaying a list of everyone your friends with on Facebook.
Step 7. Either tap to select an individual your Facebook friends with who you want to block, or use the Search bar at the top of the screen to search for someone on Facebook who you want to block. You'll be taken to a Block screen for that specific Facebook user.
Step 8. Tap the toggle to the right of Block Messages to slide the circle in the toggle to the right and change the shading behind the toggle to green. We'll now navigate back to the previous Block screen and verify that this person shows up in the blocked list.
Step 9. Tap the left-pointing arrow in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the previous Block screen, and then tap the blue "Close" button in the upper left corner of the screen. You'll arrive at the Blocked screen. You should now see the person you chose to block added to this list, along with a note beneath their name say that they are blocked in Messenger. You can unblock a user at any time by tapping their name, and then tapping to turn the Block Messages toggle off.
And now, the steps to block someone on Facebook Messenger from the Facebook website.
Step 1. Open your Web browser, navigate to facebook.com, and then click "Messenger" on the left side of your Facebook home screen beneath your profile picture and name. The Messenger screen opens, and a list of your Facebook friends appears on the left side of the screen.
Step 2. Either click the name of the person in your list of friends you want to block Facebook messages from, or use the Search bar directly above your list of friends to search for someone on Facebook you want to block, and then click that person's name. That specific individual's profile picture, name, and a menu associated with options for that user appear on the right side of your screen.
Step 3. Click the gear icon to the right of the name and profile picture of the person you want to block that appear on the right side of the screen to display a context menu.
Step 4. Click "Block Messages" in the context menu. The Block Messages dialog box appears. Click the red "Block Messages" button in the dialog box. Facebook Messenger messages from that individual will be blocked going forward. You can return to this menu at any time and click "Unblock Messages" to continue receiving Facebook Messenger messages from that person.
