How to Change your Wallpaper Photo & Lock Screen on iPhone (Best Method)
Changing the wallpaper for the home screen and lock screen on an iPhone is a straightforward process. These steps apply to iPhones running iOS 16 or later, though earlier versions are similar. You can set different wallpapers for the home and lock screens or use the same image for both.
Steps to Change Wallpaper and Lock Screen
Open Settings:
Tap the Settings app on your home screen.
Go to Wallpaper Settings:
Tap Wallpaper. You’ll see a preview of your current lock screen and home screen wallpapers.
Add a New Wallpaper:
Tap Add New Wallpaper (or Customize Current Wallpaper to edit the existing one).
Choose from the following options:
Photos: Select an image from your Photos app. Tap an album, choose a photo, and pinch to zoom or reposition it.
Photo Shuffle: Set a rotating selection of photos (e.g., from an album or category like People, Pets, or Nature).
Live Photos: Choose a Live Photo for an animated lock screen effect (press and hold to play).
Wallpapers: Pick from Apple’s built-in options (e.g., dynamic, still, or collections like Astronomy or Gradient).
Emoji: Create a custom wallpaper with emojis and select a background color.
Weather: Use a dynamic wallpaper that reflects local weather conditions.
Astronomy: Select an interactive wallpaper showing Earth, Moon, or other celestial bodies.
Customize the Lock Screen:
After selecting a wallpaper, customize it:
Widgets: Tap the widget area below the clock to add widgets (e.g., weather, calendar, or battery). Some iPhones support multiple widget layouts.
Clock Style: Tap the clock to adjust font, color, or style (e.g., Arabic, Devanagari).
Filters: Swipe left/right to apply filters (e.g., Natural, Black & White) or adjust depth for Photos (if supported).
Depth Effect: For compatible images (iOS 16+), enable Depth Effect to place the subject in front of the clock (works best with portraits).
Tap Done when finished.
Set for Home Screen and Lock Screen:
After customizing, tap Set as Wallpaper Pair to apply the wallpaper to both the lock screen and home screen.
Alternatively, tap Customize Home Screen to:
Choose a different image for the home screen.
Apply a color, gradient, or blur effect.
Enable/disable the Blur option for a softer background.
If you don’t want a separate home screen wallpaper, the lock screen image will apply to both by default.
