Battery issues on a Windows 11 computer are all too common. If you're experiencing battery issues with your Windows computer, the first thing you should do is generate a battery health report and see if there's anything that stands out. You can run a battery health report from the Command Prompt, and you'll get great information like battery capacity, usage stats, battery life expectancy, and more.

Now let's walk through the steps to check your battery health in Windows 11.

Step 1. Navigate to your Windows 11 home screen, and then click the "Windows" icon on the taskbar. The Windows Start menu is shown.

Step 2. Type "Command Prompt" in the search box, and then click "Command Prompt" in the list of results. The Command Prompt screen is displayed.

Step 3. At the end of the Command Prompt, type: powercfg /batteryreport

You'll see a note that the battery life report was saved to a specific file path. Copy this file path. I'd recommend copying the file path to either a Notepad or Word file.

Step 4. Launch File Explorer, and then paste the battery report file path into the file path bar at the top of this screen. The Battery Report file opens, where you'll see your computer name, product name, BIOS version and more on the initial screen.

As you scroll down through the report you'll see an Installed Batteries section where you'll see your design capacity and full charge capacity. You'll also see a summary of your battery's usage, the battery drain rate, your battery's usage history, the battery capacity history, and your battery life estimate based on the current drain rate.
