Maybe you don't like the fact that TikTok is, at the end of the day, a Chinese company and you don't trust it with your data. Maybe you don't use TikTok and want to close your account so you don't have to worry about someone hacking it. No matter the reason TikTok makes it relatively easy to delete your account.

Now let's walk through the steps to delete your TikTok account.

Step 1. Launch the TikTok app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You'll land on your TikTok home screen.

Step 2. Tap the "Profile" icon at the bottom of the screen. You'll be routed to your TikTok account menu.

Step 3. Tap the "Menu" icon at the top of this screen. A menu pops up at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4. Tap "Settings and Privacy." The Settings and Privacy screen is shown.

Step 5. Tap "Manage Account." The Manage Account screen is displayed.

Step 6. Navigate to the Account Control section, and then tap "Delete Account." A screen is displayed asking why you're leaving TikTok.

Step 7. Choose the reason you're deleting your TikTok account, and then tap "Continue." The next screen will prompt you to download your TikTok data.

Step 8. After you download a copy of your TikTok data if you want to, tap to mark the box indicating that you've reviewed the data request and you want to move forward with deleting your TikTok account and then tap "Continue."

The next screen tells you that your TikTok account will be deactivated for 30 days and won't be visible to the public. Within that 30 day period you can reactivate your account at any time by simply logging back in. After 30 days your TikTok account will be deleted permanently.

Step 9. Review the information on this screen and then tap "Continue." The next screen prompts you to enter your TikTok account password.

Step 10. Enter your TikTok account password and then tap "Delete Account." A window pops up asking if you're sure you want to delete your account.

Step 11. Tap "Delete" again. You'll be routed back to the TikTok login screen. If you don't login to your TikTok account within 30 days your account will be deleted.
