After configuring the Standard Spanning Tree Protocol on Cisco Switches using GNS3, you need to enable some features for performance.

Basic features of Spanning Tree protocol;

1. UplinkFast
2.PortFast
3.BackboneFast

If you configure the BackboneFast protocol on the Cisco Switch, the STP protocol provides rapid convergence and maintains network interoperability when a cable failure occurs in your backup network.

In short, if you don't configure BackboneFast, the total convergence time is 50 seconds. If you configure, the total time will be 30 seconds.
