How to Connect New Controller to Nintendo Switch (Pair Joy Con)
Certainly! Connecting a new controller to your Nintendo Switch is straightforward. Whether you have a Switch Pro Controller, Joy-Cons, or a third-party controller, here’s how to get them paired:
Switch Pro Controller:
Wireless Connection:
Go to the Controllers menu at the bottom of your Nintendo Switch’s screen (the icon looks like a Joy-Con controller).
Select “Change Grip/Order.”
Press and hold the “Sync” button on your Switch Pro Controller (located at the top, next to the USB-C port).
When the controller’s icon appears on-screen, press the A button to confirm the connection. This method also works with the Nintendo Switch Lite1.
USB-C Cable Connection:
Connect your Switch Pro Controller and your Nintendo Switch using the USB-C cable that came with your controller.
Plug the USB-C end of the cable into the controller and the USB-A end into one of the USB-A ports on your Nintendo Switch’s dock (located on the bottom-left side of the dock). Ensure the Nintendo Switch is in the dock for this method to work1.
Joy-Cons:
Slide the Right Joy-Con into the console (as if you’re playing in tablet mode).
Slide the Left Joy-Con into the console.
Select "Done"23.
Remember, these steps apply to both the regular Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite. Enjoy your gaming!
