You can play with two players using a single Joy-Con controller on your Nintendo Switch. Here’s how:
Detach the Joy-Con Controllers:
Pick up your Nintendo Switch and turn it over.
Detach the Joy-Con controllers from the console.
Attach the Joy-Con Straps (if available):
Attach the Joy-Con straps to the top of each controller. This provides a more tactile button surface.
Navigate to the Controller Menu:
Power on your Nintendo Switch by pressing the Power button on the top edge of the console.
At the home screen, select the Controllers icon (third circular button from the right) along the bottom edge of your display.
Change Grip/Order:
Tap or select Change Grip/Order.
Unlock the left Joy-Con by pressing the black button on the back and fully detach it from your system.
Do the same for the right Joy-Con.
Pair the Joy-Cons:
Press the SL and SR bumper buttons at the top of each Joy-Con.
Wait for both Joy-Cons to appear in the list of controllers.
Confirm the Configuration:
Press the A button to confirm your new controller configuration.
Hand the Second Joy-Con to Your Friend:
Hand the second Joy-Con controller to your friend or family member.
Open your favorite game that supports two-player mode.
Select the two-player mode from the game’s menu and enjoy playing together!
