How to Connect Xbox Controller to iPhone with WIRE
To connect an Xbox controller to an iPhone using a wired connection:
Check Controller Compatibility:
Ensure your Xbox controller has a USB-C or micro-USB port (common in Xbox One, Series X/S, or Elite controllers). Older Xbox 360 controllers are not supported for wired connections on iPhones.
Get the Right Cable and Adapter:
Use a USB-C to Lightning cable or a micro-USB to Lightning cable, depending on your controller’s port.
You’ll need a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter (available from Apple or third-party vendors) to connect the controller to your iPhone’s Lightning port. For iPhones with USB-C ports (e.g., iPhone 15 or later), a direct USB-C cable may work without an adapter.
Connect the Controller:
Plug the USB-C or micro-USB end into the Xbox controller’s port (on top, near the Xbox button).
Connect the other end to the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, then plug the adapter into your iPhone’s Lightning or USB-C port.
Grant Permissions:
Your iPhone may prompt you to allow USB accessory access. Tap Allow or OK.
The controller should be recognized as an input device automatically.
Test the Connection:
Open a controller-compatible app or game (e.g., Xbox Game Pass, Call of Duty Mobile, or Apple Arcade games).
Verify that buttons, joysticks, and triggers work. The Xbox button’s light may indicate a connection.
Adjust Settings (if Needed):
Check the game’s settings to enable controller support.
Go to Settings - General - Game Controller on your iPhone to customize button mappings if supported by the app.
