How to LOCK multiple APPS on iPhone with Shortcuts (Privacy Tutorial)
To lock multiple apps (e.g., Photos, Facebook, Instagram) on an iPhone using the Shortcuts app, you can create an automation that locks the screen when any of the selected apps are opened, requiring Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode to access them. This method, available since iOS 16.4, locks the entire iPhone rather than individual apps, but it adds a security layer. It works on iOS 16.4–17; for iOS 18+, native app locking is recommended (see below). Here’s how to set it up with Shortcuts:
Using Shortcuts to Lock Multiple Apps (iOS 16.4–17)
Open Shortcuts App:
Launch Shortcuts (pre-installed).
Ensure iOS is 16.4 or later (Settings - General - About - iOS Version).
Create a New Automation:
Tap Automation (bottom tab) - + - Create Personal Automation.
Select App Trigger:
Tap App - Choose.
Select multiple apps (e.g., Photos, Facebook, Instagram) by tapping each.
Ensure Is Opened is checked - tap Done.
Add Lock Screen Action:
Tap Add Action - search Lock Screen - select it.
Tap Next - toggle off Ask Before Running.
Tap Don’t Ask - Done.
Test the Automation:
Open any selected app (e.g., Photos or Instagram). The iPhone should lock instantly.
Unlock with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode to access the app.
