Hi. I'm Max Dalton, and in this video I'm going to talk through how to upload a custom Xbox gamerpic.
The inability to add a custom gamerpic, or profile picture, to an Xbox Live account has driven Xbox owners crazy since the platform was rolled out. In mid-2017, Microsoft changed that, making it possible for players to a 1080 x 1080 pixel image saved on their Xbox console, and easily spin it into their gamerpic.
Steps to Upload a Custom Xbox Gamerpic:
1. Locate a photo you want to use as your custom gamerpic on Xbox Live, and make sure that particular photo is no less than 1080-by-1080 pixels in size. If you're picture is double that, you should still be fine, but much more than that and you'll have a hard time getting your image to fit inside of the area where you define your picture.
2. Move that image to a thumb drive or an external hard drive.
3. Connect the storage drive where your image is stored to your Xbox console. Xbox One consoles have a minimum of three USB ports on them, but depending on the model they could be in various locations. Check along all outer edges of your console to find an available USB port.
4. Turn your Xbox console on if it isn't powered on already.
5. Use your Xbox controller to move the on-screen selector all the way to the left side of the screen. A menu will fly out from the left side of the screen.
6. Move the on-screen selector all the way to the top of the menu to highlight your current gamerpic, also known as a profile pic.
7. Move the on-screen selector to the right to highlight your current gamerpic, and then press "A." A drop-down menu appears beneath your current gamerpic.
8. Select "My Profile" in the drop-down menu. The Info screen for your account opens.
9. Move the on-screen selector down into the Info screen, and then select "Customize Profile" on the right side of the Info screen. The Customize Profile screen appears.
10. Select "Change Gamerpic" on the right side of the Customize Profile screen. The Choose Your Gamerpic screen opens.
11. Highlight "Upload a Custom Image" in the upper right corner of the screen, and then press "A." A file explorer screen appears.
12. Highlight the icon associated with your storage device on the left side of the file explorer, and then press "A." The contents of that storage device appear on the right side of the file explorer window.
13. Highlight the image file you want to use as your custom Xbox Live gamerpic, and then press "A." The Edit Your Picture screen appears.
14. Use the controls called out on the left side of the screen to fit the contents of the image you want to use as your custom Xbox Live gamerpic into the circle.
15. Select "Upload" on the right side of the screen, after fitting the part of the image you want to use as a custom Xbox Live gamerpic in the on-screen circle. A message appears on the screen, telling you that your image is being uploaded. After the upload is complete, another message appears telling you that your picture has been successfully uploaded, and it will appear on your profile after it is approved.
16. Click "OK." You'll return to the Info screen for your profile. Additionally, if your custom gamerpic has already been approved, you may even see it as your profile picture.
