I understand that a gamepad is a great way to play these games, but for those who could not afford it, the touchscreen controls works, too.
Good news is that the PPSSPP touch controls are very customizable, and you can edit them all to your liking.
It is recommended to try this out for each game, as not all PSP games act the same. For example, I use a different control layout for GTA games and car racing games. I would make the frequently used buttons larger than the least used ones.
