How to ensure the volume of games or programs running concurrently does not lower during voice calls
This video will show you how to ensure that the volume level of the game, application or program that is running does not become reduced automatically (does not lower) when you are communicating over your microphone with another party (placing or receiving a VOIP voice call) over such technologies such as Skype, Steam, Hangouts, etc. This is the Microsoft Windows operating system that is intervening and that is automatically lowering the volume level of your game, app or software to prioritize the voice call that is happening at the same time.
Under CONTROL PANEL, ensure that VIEW BY (in the upper right corner) is set to SMALL ICONS. From there, click on SOUND. Under SOUND, click on the COMMUNICATIONS tab. Under COMMUNICATIONS, under the WHEN WINDOWS DETECTS COMMUNICATIONS ACTIVITY header, select DO NOTHING. Accept these settings by clicking APPLY followed by OK.
It also helps if under CONTROL PANEL, when you click on SOUND, under SOUND, click on the RECORDING tab. Ensure that your desired microphone is properly selected and active (green check mark icon). Click on the desired mic to highlight it, and underneath, click PROPERTIES. Under MICROPHONE PROPERTIES, click on the LEVELS tab. Slide both MICROPHONE and MICROPHONE BOOST sliders all the way to the right (highest settings). Accept these settings by clicking APPLY followed by OK.
