How to Factory Reset Android Phone before reselling (Erase all data)
When preparing to resell your Android phone, it’s crucial to safeguard your personal data by performing a thorough factory reset. Basic file deletion or a standard factory reset may not be sufficient, as remnants of your data can still be recovered. Here’s the recommended process for wiping your Android phone completely before selling:
Backup Your Data: First, back up all your important data, such as contacts, photos, and documents. You can use cloud services or transfer files to another device.
Encrypt Your Data: Encrypt your phone to ensure that your data remains secure during the reset process. Go to your phone’s settings, find the security or privacy section, and enable encryption.
Overwrite with Junk Data: To prevent data recovery, overwrite your phone’s storage with random data. You can use apps designed for this purpose or manually copy large files onto your phone until it’s full. This step ensures that any remnants of your old data are overwritten.
Remove Accounts, SIM, and Memory Card:
Accounts: Sign out of all accounts linked to your phone (Google, social media, etc.).
SIM Card: Remove the SIM card from your phone.
Memory Card (SD Card): If your phone has an SD card, remove it as well.
Perform a Factory Reset:
Navigate to your phone’s Settings.
Look for System or Advanced settings.
Select Reset Options.
Choose Erase All Data (Factory Reset).
Confirm the action by entering your password or PIN.
Finally, select Erase Everything.
