To change the language on your Android phone, follow these steps:

Open the Settings app from your app drawer or home screen.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on System (the gear icon).
Next, select Language & input (the globe icon).

Tap on Languages (the icon with multilingual characters).
Choose Add a language (the plus button).

Pick a language from the list. Most languages have their own regions, so select a region for your desired language.

Once the language is added, press and hold the two horizontal lines next to it and move your preferred language to the top of the list.
