How to Find Deleted Photos on iPhone & Recover within 30 Days (Best Method)
On an iPhone, deleted photos are moved to a "Recently Deleted" album, where they remain for up to 30 days before permanent deletion. You can recover these photos easily within this period.
These steps apply to iPhones running iOS 16 or later, but the process is similar for iOS 12 and above. If the photos are no longer in Recently Deleted or were permanently deleted, other recovery options (like iCloud or backups) may be available.
Method 1: Recover from Recently Deleted Album
Open the Photos App:
Tap the Photos app on your home screen.
Go to Recently Deleted:
Tap Albums at the bottom of the screen.
Scroll down to Utilities and select Recently Deleted.
You may need to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to access this album.
Find the Deleted Photos:
Browse the photos in the Recently Deleted album. Each photo shows the number of days remaining before permanent deletion (up to 30 days).
Tap a photo to view it, or use the search icon (if available) to find specific images.
Recover Photos:
To recover specific photos:
Tap the photo, then tap Recover - Recover Photo.
To recover multiple photos:
Tap Select (top-right), tap the photos you want, then tap Recover - Recover [X] Photos.
The photos will return to their original location in the Photos app (e.g., Camera Roll or a specific album).
