About this video: So you’ve accidentally hidden a file or folder on Windows or you hid a file on purpose, but you don’t know how to find it. Well, in this video, we go over you exactly how to show hidden files and folders in Windows. This will work on any version of Windows, and once you know how to see hidden files, you will be able to do it over and over again, allowing you to access hidden files as much as you would like.
With that being said, the first thing that we need to do is open up File Explorer. You can do this by going into the Start Menu and searching for it or by selecting it in your task bar.
Then, at the top of File Explorer, you will see ‘View’. Click this can select ‘Options’. Then, choose the ‘Change folder and search options.’ button.
Finally, select view tab, and in advanced settings, you will want to check the ‘Show hidden files, folders, and drives’ check box. Click ‘Ok’, and instantly any hidden folders on your PC will appear.
This will include any files and folders that are hidden by programs. It’s not uncommon for files and folders to be hidden by programs so end users don’t accidentally delete them or change things in them. So, don’t be alarmed if you do see a lot of hidden files you don’t recognize as you navigate your hard drive with hidden files enabled.
