Video Transcript:
Your Steam ID is a long series of numbers uniquely associated with your Steam account that can't be changed by anyone -- not even Steam employees. If you link your Steam account with other game accounts, this is the number that will be used for Steam. As a result, you may need to supply your Steam ID if you're looking to unlink your accounts. Additionally, there are other scenarios when you contact Steam customer support where a Steam representative may ask for your Steam ID. In this video, I'll show you how to find your Steam ID in the Steam client on your computer.
Now let's walk through the steps to find your Steam ID.
Step 1. Launch the Steam client on your computer.
Step 2. Click "View" in the row of menu options in the upper left corner of the screen to open a drop-down menu.
Step 3. Click "Settings" in the View drop-down menu. The Settings screen is displayed.
Step 4. Select "Interface" in the list of options on the left side of the screen. Then, on the right side of the Settings window in the Interface options, click to place a check mark to the left of Display Steam URL Address Bar When Available.
Step 5. Click "OK" to close the Settings window and return to your Steam home screen.
Step 6. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of your Steam profile name in the upper right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu appears.
Step 7. Click "View My Profile" in the drop-down menu. A screen displaying your profile information is displayed. Your Steam ID can be found in the green URL displayed in the upper left corner of the screen beneath the row of Steam screen options. Your Steam ID is the long number at the end of the URL. If you don't see a number at the end, then you likely have a custom URL associated with your Steam profile. You'll need to temporarily remove this in order to see your Steam ID. You can do this by clicking "Edit Profile" on the screen displaying your Steam profile information, and then removing whatever value you have in the Custom URL field. Scroll down to the bottom of the Edit Profile screen, and then click Save Changes. Now, when you return to the View My Profile screen, you'll see your Steam ID at the end of the URL.
